The estate of Monteillet has been in the Montez family since 1741. Stéphane, who succeeded his father Antoine, is the 9th generation at the helm. The estate is located in Chavannay and extends over 24 hectares on the right bank of the Rhone. It benefits from the lowest annual rainfall in the region and covers 3 appellations: Saint Joseph, Côte Rôtie and Condrieu. The vine is planted on terraced hillsides called “chaillées”.
The harvest is manual. The aging is done in barrels, between 1 and 3 years according to the wines. Centennial aging cellars bring the typicality and the final touch. With the recent construction of a new wine cellar benefiting from the latest technical innovations, Stéphane Montez’s wines are gaining even more precision and quality.
